Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, licensed professional counselor, registered art therapist, and author.
In a marble carving class my professor once explained "You don't get to tell the marble what to do. If you embrace it in its natural state the marble will reveal its form to you." Meaning, no matter how hard one tries with a chisel and hammer the natural properties of the material itself will determine how it can be formed. This is my approach to therapy. To accept each client exactly as they are and allow them the space to choose and direct their own growth.
Therapy is a place to explore issues that challenge you as well as things that inspire and excite you. I offer a personalized approach to help you meet your unique goals and achieve personal growth. All are welcome in my office no matter how you identify your gender, race, sexuality, or type of relationship you are in. I specialize in individuals going through difficult life transitions, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, polyamory, and adults with ADHD/ASD. SW friendly/safe. I have recently been a fellow at NOBPC in their psychoanalytic psychotherapy program.
In physics, the observer effect is the alteration of an observed system by the simple act of observation. The same is true for your unconscious. Once observed and reflected it becomes known, which inherently creates change and disruption to the repetitive patterns that have been playing out based on one's own internal system of processing the world in relation to the self.
Adults with ADHD/ASD have become one of my therapeutic niches. It doesn’t matter if you were diagnosed in childhood or for the first time as an adult, there is a lot to learn and understand about your brain. There can be a specific type of grief process that occurs after learning this information about yourself usually for the first time. I can help you work through this often flood of feelings that can become very present and even be contradictory at times.
I also work with various types of trauma, depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationship issues, personality disorders, dissociative disorders, connecting one's past to the present, exploring one's sexuality and sexual self, and I recently published work about breakups utilizing object relations and psychoanalytic theory.
